Students Explore UT Austin

The TexasACE21 afterschool program sponsored a field trip to ExploreUT in Austin on Saturday, March 6, 2010 as part of college readiness. Forty students representing grades 3rd-8th enjoyed visiting the UT campus and the many activities put on by different schools of learning. Some of the JH students enjoyed the robotics and learned that the professor in charge had begun with the same kind of robot that the students are currently programming in their own robotics class, others visited with students studying pharmacy, dentistry, and electrical engineering. The climax of the trip was joining in the singing of the UT fight song played by some of the Longhorn band students. A good time was had by all those attending this trip and participated in taking a group picture with some other 20,000 students from across the state of Texas.
