Celebrating Cinco de Mayo

by Heidi Bell

May 17, 2011

Our celebration was started with Erin C. reading the history of Cinco de Mayo.  Mrs. Crawford’s 1st grade class danced the Raspa and the children really enjoyed the dance.  Mrs. Hesseltine’s Pre-Kindergarten class, with their lovely voice and talent, sang and danced the Cinco de Mayo song.

Jr. Farias y los Artisticos played that old Spanish music that makes you want to get up and dance.  Ben Farias did a very good job of singing and playing his guitar.  Judy Bowen, director of “Fiesta Ballet Folklorico” provided talented dancers from Beeville to perform.  Jose M., John Jacob C. and Joe C. attempted the “El Grito” which followed with a room full of laughter.  For the finale to the celebration, Effie Herrera sang the mariachi song “Viva, Mexico”.

On behalf of the Parent Involvement Committee and A.C.E. Grant, we wish to extend thanks to everyone for your time and talent.  This year’s celebration was a great success because of you.
