Demetrio D. Garcia
Mr. Garcia is the Principal of Pawnee ISD. He graduated from Kenedy High School in 1994. After spending some time working in retail, he went on to graduate from the University of Houston-Victoria in 2000 with a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and then again in 2004 with a Master's degree in Educational Administration and Supervision. He has always wanted to work with kids, originally planning to be a pediatrician. He started as a teacher at Roger E. Sides (RES) Elementary in Karnes City, Texas and taught Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 3rd grade over the course of four years. He was then promoted to the Assistant Principal of RES Elementary and held that position for two years, until he was promoted to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction. He came to Pawnee as the Principal in August of 2006 and believes that all students can learn. He upholds the high expectation that it is the responsibility of educators to provide students all of the tools, resources, and strategies they need to be successful both in and out of school.
"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act, but a habit." --Aristotle
