What is Alternative Certification?
Another route to certification that allows a degreed individual to obtain certification. For the latest TEA requirements visit the following link: Initial Certification/Becoming a Classroom Teacher in Texas. Pawnee ISD does not recommend any specific program. Interested individuals should contact the alternative programs directly to determine the program that complements the individual's needs.

Does Pawnee ISD hire Alternative Program candidates?
As a matter practice:

Elementary: Pawnee ISD will only consider or place general elementary candidates who are either fully certified or accepted in a state accredited alternative program that meets the NCLB highly qualified requirements.

Secondary: Pawnee ISD will only consider or place general or content specific secondary candidates who are either fully certified or accepted in a state accredited alternative program that meets the NCLB highly qualified requirements.
