Pawnee Elem/Junior High will be closed for traditional on-campus instruction starting March 23 through April 3 to support our community and health care professionals in the ongoing goal of containing the spread of the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19. However, Beginning March 23rd we will begin remote instruction by providing our students multiple methods of learning to best fit their learning styles. We are also committed to providing alternatives for families who may have either limited Internet or technology in their homes. Your child’s teacher(s) will be contacting you to get a better idea of each child’s specific needs. Please feel free to share with them other needs your family may be having during these uncertain times. Additionally, all extracurricular activities, practices and athletic events are suspended while we are closed. We do not make this decision lightly. We fully realize it presents significant difficulties to working parents. However, we are hopeful that these measures will better ensure the long-term health and safety of children, staff, and the larger community. We have counselors on staff who are here to assist you. Pawnee ISD is finalizing logistics on distance learning options and the distribution of food to address children’s nutritional needs while school is out. More information and guidance will be made available on our website by Tuesday, March 24th. We will also take these weeks to further clean schools and buses and restock custodial and nursing supplies. Additionally, Pawnee ISD asks the broader community to take the following reasonable precautions to prevent the spread of the illness: • Don’t shake hands • Wash your hands regularly • Limit movement within the community, especially avoiding crowded placed and maintaining 3 to 6 ft of distance between people (at least an arm’s length) • If you are moving around in the community, don’t congregate in large groups • For those who have traveled to areas with known COVID-19 cases – both inside and outside of the country – we ask that you self-quarantine and contact your campus to let them know. • If you suspect you have symptoms of COVID-19, call your health care provider for medical advice . • Keep your child at home if he/she feels ill, even if you think it is just a cold. • Do not leave the house if you are ill, except to access medical care This is a quickly changing situation, and we will continue to monitor information, will assess conditions throughout the week, and will provide the next update by Wednesday, March 25th via our website and email. Thank you for your support and cooperation as we ensure that all members of the community in Pawnee stay safe and healthy. Sincerely, Michelle Hartmann Superintendent

Dear Pawnee ISD Family, Pawnee ISD is closely monitoring the spread of COVID-19 in our state while our district is on its regularly scheduled Spring Break. All school-related activities, including UIL athletic games and practices have been cancelled until March 29th. A decision on our schools and office days and times of operations will be made and released by the end of business, Wednesday. To the best of our ability, information regarding alternative methods of instruction and student access to meals will be included with this release. Administrators are working closely with local officials to be certain that our community's health and well being remains priority one. Please continue to check our social media accounts for updates on the situation. Thank you for doing your part as we work through these uncertain times together. Sincerely, Michelle Hartmann Superintendent
